NORMANN'S RUH - A PLACE OF HISTORY
Normann’s Ruh was built in memory of Willy de Normann, who married one of the Maclean daughters, loved Torloisk, and tragically died in 1860 while serving at the British Legation in China. Some of the beautiful pieces of china which he sent home from the Far East are still on display at Torloisk House today.
Normann’s Ruh - meaning Normann's Rest - was built in 1864 and was originally two small cottages. Intended to house the older people in the Fanmore area, the building was erected at the same time as the original road from Fanmore to Kilninian Church was constructed by the Torloisk estate.

GUEST REVIEWS
A wonderful place to stay. It’s a great location for Calgary, Tobermory, sea trips and Ulva. Quite a drive to see Iona but it’s worth it as the drive across is spectacular.
Fantastic location, very clean, quiet and cosy....beautiful Views. What more could you want?
Beautiful cosy, warm and well equipped accommodation with stunning views, a lovely garden looking to sea and Ulva and Geometra. Eagles can be seen from the garden and access to the coastline.
Lovely spot overlooking Ulva Island and you can see Ben More to the south from the garden. Very nicely done inside and kitted out with everything you need for your stay.
Cosy, comfortable cottage. Views amazing and all very quiet and peaceful - exactly what we needed.
Stunning location, warm and comfortable cottage. Thank you.
Loved sitting in the garden in the evenings watching the sun set. Beautiful dog-friendly cottage. We will be back!
Stunning location, warm and comfortable cottage. Thank you.
We had a truly wonderful stay at Normann’s Ruh. Gorgeous views out over the water, and stunning sunsets.
Normann’s Ruh is the perfect island getaway. The location is amazing, very remote but within driving distance to shops, pubs and things to do on Mull.
Lovely spot, ideal for getting away from it all. We had a great stay and definitely come back!
